The exhibition Leonardo: studies on optics and perspective explores the Master’s interest for the eye, seen as the organ of the human visual perception, and his studies on optics. The selected drawings show how the study of optics, closely related to the study of geometry, turns out to be a fundamental topic for Leonardo, not only for the study of perspective, but also for the theoretical definition of the problems connected to the science “of shadow and light,” which would then merge in the Treatise on Painting.
